After the 5-week gap caused by the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian GPs, F1 returns at Miami (May 1ā3) with several notable regulation and schedule changes: ā” ERS / Energy Rule Changes Super clipping (MGU-K recovery at full throttle) has been raised from 250kW to the maximum of 350kW Motorsport ā meaning drivers can recover energy without lifting, making speed profiles more natural and safer. The harvesting limit during qualifying has been reduced from 8MJ to 7MJ Motorsport, cutting energy available to deploy on a lap and easing driver workload. š¦ Race & Safety Tweaks Maximum boost power is capped at 150kW to limit sudden performance swings, with MGU-K deployment set at 350kW in key acceleration zones and 250kW elsewhere. Athlon Sports A new low-power start detection system will be tested, designed to automatically deploy MGU-K if a car shows abnormally low acceleration off the line. Athlon Sports In wet conditions, blanket temperatures for intermediate tires have been raised following driver feedback, and rear light systems have been simplified for better visibility. Athlon Sports š Schedule Change FP1 has been extended from 60 to 90 minutes Athlon Sports, giving teams extra time to adapt to the new rules and shake off the rust after the long break. šļø Car Upgrades Teams have been free to work in their factories unrestricted throughout April Sky Sports, and multiple teams are arriving with significant upgrade packages. Mercedes remain favourites but Ferrari and McLaren are expected to be much closer. Should be a very different Miami to what we expected at the start of the season!
